CPI National Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy made a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the first day of the 3-day State Council meeting which began here on Tuesday for ignoring the national interests by agreeing to the conditions laid down by the US for its support to get into the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

​Tirupati: CPI National Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy made a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the first day of the 3-day State Council meeting which began here on Tuesday for ignoring the national interests by agreeing to the conditions laid down by the US for its support to get into the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

Speaking to the media persons here on Tuesday, Sudhakar Reddy said that the conditions affect the nuclear plants in the country worth Rs 4 lakh crore and also their safety standard. The Modi government failed to learn the lessons from the hazards of nuclear power plant accidents that once endangered public life and safety in Russia and Japan.

Criticising the NDA government of getting failed in foreign affairs, he said that the Modi government believes in the policy of placating the capitalist and imperialist countries like USA to which he is genuflecting.Continuing his blistering attacks on the Narendra Modi led NDA government, Reddy said that the Union government turned more and more anti people and pro corporate.

The center is imposing more taxes and increasing the existing taxes like service tax which has been increased from 12 to 15 percent hitting hard the common people. At the same time, it is reluctant to decrease the corporate tax from 35 percent to 25 percent.

Modi promised to unearth the whole stock of black money stashed in foreign banks before election, but could bring only about five thousand crore out of Rs 70-80 lakh crore deposited at the safe lockers of the foreign banks in various countries, he added.

He also slammed the Modi government for stepping back on according special category status to Andhra Pradesh and also packages to backward regions under the pretext of that they were not in the AP re-organisation bill.

He said that these were announced by the then Prime Minister on the floor of the Parliament and it was not correct to deny them. In this connection he found fault with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister for not pressing the Centre to fulfill its promise with regard to special category status and special packages and accused him of soft pedaling following `mitra dharma' for obvious reasons against the State interest.

Reddy said that the meet would mainly focus on rebuilding the party in the State. It will discuss and evolve programmes to be taken up in the coming days to attract more people especially youth to strengthen the party.

The meet also discussed on the issues like unemployment and price rise. It also chalked out programmes against the anti people polices of both State and Central governments. Party National Secretary K Narayana, State Secretary Ramakrishna and leaders and members of the State Council attended the meeting.
