Mudragada ends fast, alleges high handedness by police

​Rajamahendravaram: Kapu leader and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham called off his indefinite fast on Wednesday, 14th day after he began his fast at his native village Kirlampudi in East Godavari district.

He ended his fast as the government assured him of comprehensive inquiry into the Tuni violence and released all the 13 arrested persons connected with it. Along with his wife, Mudragada reached Kirlmapudi on Wednesday morning amidst heavy security and ended his fast at his residence. He got grand reception from his followers in Kirlampudi.

Mudragada made it clear that he would not rest until the demands of his community were fulfilled, and expressed deep anguish over the humiliation that his family had faced when police shifted them from Kirlampudi.

He lamented that the police had used filthy language against his daughter-in-law, wife and two sons while arresting them on June 9. He maintained that the State government had humiliated his family and the god would punish the guilty. He announced that his family would not celebrate any festival until the guilty were punished.

He alleged that he was treated like terrorist in the hospital without any access to television, mobile phone or even a newspaper. He said that he was only asking for Kapu reservation and not any facility from the government as he had already served as minister, elected as MP, MLA and in different capacities.
