Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh State government has decided to provide the much-needed relief to the nine-month-old Gyana Sai, from Chittoor district, who is suffering with a congenital liver problem and requires liver transplant.

According to Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, prominent liver transplant expert Dr Mohammad Rela examined the baby girl on Friday in Hyderabad. The expert recommended that Gyana Sai needed immediate liver transplant and asked the parents to bring her to Global Hospital in Chennai on Monday.

The baby girl would undergo medical tests and then a date would be fixed for liver transplant, the Minister added. It may be mentioned here that Gyana Sai has hit the headlines across the country following her parents going to a local court in Tamballapalli in Chittoor district, with a plea seeking, either to direct the government to provide treatment which they could not afford, or allow to give the nine-month-old baby girl passive euthanasia.

Following this, the issue has been taken to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who, in turn, had directed the Health Minister to extend all necessary medical help to the baby girl who was identified with the ailment ‘Billary Atresia’ and announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

As the father of Gyana Sai volunteered to donate his organ to his daughter, officials have made arrangements for the liver transplant.
