Speaking at the first anniversary of AMRUT held here on Saturday, Sivaprasad said that civic body taken up construction of 5,000 houses under NTR Housing scheme with AMRUT funds in which 1,020 were completed.

Madanapalle (Chittoor): Madanapalle Municipal Chairman K Sivaprasad said that 1,020 houses which were constructed under the phase-I of NTR Housing scheme for urban poor with the financial support under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme will be inaugurated soon.

Speaking at the first anniversary of AMRUT held here on Saturday, Sivaprasad said that civic body taken up construction of 5,000 houses under NTR Housing scheme with AMRUT funds in which 1,020 were completed.

The Municipal chief said efforts are on to get water from Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi Project under AMRUT for supplying drinking water in the town which will resolve the problem permanently. Besides, as many as 110 pending works in the town will also be taken up under
AMRUT which he said will change the face of the town for better.

The Municipal Chairman said plans are afoot for construction of a flyover to ease traffic congestion and also for reconstruction of Bahuda canal after removing the encroachments to ensure free flow of sewage water in the major drain passing through the town.

The TDP President and MLC G Srinivasulu, who was the chief guest of the function, unveiled the AMRUT plaque and said that three cities including Tirupati, Chittoor and Madanapalle were selected in the district for development underAMRUT and sought the municipal officials to identify some works for inclusion in the scheme forimproving facilities in the town.

Municipal Commissioner Viswanath said that a total of Rs 19.50 crore was allocated under AMRUT to Madanapalle municipality for providing individual tap connection for which Rs 5.94 crore earmarked while Rs 13.06 crore was provided for distribution of pipeline and development of water resources and Rs 50 lakh for development of parks in the town. MLC Naresh Kumar Reddy, Municipal Vice-Chairman Bhavani Prasad, town bank chairman Vidya Sagar and others were present.
