​Vijayawada: Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao warned that the government would take legal action against a section of media which has been making baseless allegations against irrigation department in Kondaveeti Vagu works.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, the Minister accused the YSRCP of trying to malign the image of TDP government. “Engineering officials submitted proposals to divert the Kondaveeti Vagu flood water to Krishna River and Buckingham canal. The proposals are yet to get administrative sanction,” he added.

Uma said that some section of media has been making allegations of irregularities to a tune of Rs 400 crore in Kondaveeti Vagu works, though the works are in proposal stage. He alleged that the YSRCP president has been trying to stall several irrigation project works including Polavaram.

He said that the YSRCP leaders dragging the names of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his family members under false charges. He warned that the government will proceed legally.

“An YSRCP legislator has been trying to create hurdles to Galeru-Nagari canal works aimed at supplying drinking water to Pulivendula of Kadapa district. The Opposition Leader has been trying to create hurdles to Polavaram project by provoking the villagers by asking them not to vacate their villages,” he alleged and said that shifting of villages is essential to speed up the works.
