3 held on theft murder charges

Kurnool: District SP Ake Ravi Krishna said that the police arrested three persons on the charges of theft and murder in Brahmanakotkur on Tuesday and recovered 28 grams of gold and 50 grams of silver worth Rs 9 lakh from them.
The SP presented the accused before the media here on Tuesday.

He said that the gang consists of Neeli Shikari Srinu alias Potti Srinu and Neeli Shikari Naidu both from Halaharvi village and Neeli Shikari Chinna Babu of Kurnool were involved in various theft cases.

Ravi Krishna stated that the trio had entered into a house of Jutooru Nagendranath of Konidela village and decamped with 12 grams of gold and 50 grams of silver ornaments besides a cash of Rs 30,000. On the directions of SP, DSP K Supraja has formed a team to nab them.

The SP said that the gang also stolen 16 grams of gold and a cash of Rs 45,000 by breaking open the almirah in the house of Satish Kumar at Halaharvi. “A warrant is pending against Neeli Shikari Srinu alias Potti Srinu for murdering Neeli Shikari Mahesh.

Five arrested in rape attempt case In another incident, the Holagunda police arrested five persons for attempting to rape a woman.

Ravi Krishna said Boya Balu alias Hanumanthu, Boya Shiva, Boya Rajasekhar alias Sekhar, Boya Govindu and Boya Nagaraju alias Rajulu tried to outrage the modesty of a woman, who went to attend the nature’s call.

All the accused ran away when she raised an alarm, he said. He stated a case was registered under various sections based on the victim’s complaint.

The SP warned of stringent action against those involved in cases relating to women. He urged women to Dial 100 to register their complaint or approach the nearest police station to file a case. Ravi Krishna appreciated the officials for their hard work to apprehend the accused.
