Anantapur: Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao has described Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's success in fullfilling his election pledge of loan waiver as historic as no other Chief Minister dared to make such promise and redeem it.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Pulla Rao said that the Chief Minister embarked on waiving of Rs 24,000 crore farm debt and Rs 11,500 crore in two years benefiting 57.27 lakh farmers. He said that financial advisor to the State Kutumba Rao would be talking to the banks and ensure a hassle-free debt waiver in the next three phases. Each farmer is eligible for loan waiver up to Rs 1.5 lakh. 96.5 per cent of the farmers are benefiting from loan waiver up to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh, he said.

The Minister distributed debt redemption documents to farmers here. He said that the promise of loan waiver was made when the State was united but the Chief

Minister took the bold decision of honoring his election pledge despite resources crunch. He accused YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy of being angry at the Chief Minister for successfully redeeming his election pledges. He said that the opposition is finding fault even for roping in investors for State development. How State can prosper without industrialisation, he asked.

The Chief Minister, he said, is coming to the district on July 5th for unveiling a Farmers’ Producers Organisation (FPO). The FPO is tied up with exporting companies for marketing the farmers produce.

Pulla Rao advised the farmers on minimising the use of chemical fertilisers and raise their agriculture yield. Due to the Chief Minister's efforts at the World Economic Forum meet, Rs 7,000 crore loan is coming to the State.
IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy spoke of Chief Minister's vision to develop Andhra Pradesh into a drought-free State.
