CM hikes compensation to Palmanpet villagers

Payakaraopet (Visakhapatnam): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has increased the compensation to be paid to the fishermen families of Palmanpet village in the mandal from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 to each affected family.

This was announced by the Chief Minister at the airport here on Saturday when a team of public representatives and leaders apprised him of the loss to property when the irate villagers of neighbouring villages attacked to suppress them politically. It urged the CM to initiate severe action against the guilty. Earlier, local MLA V Anitha announced that Rs 20,000 would be paid to each family as compensation.

Meanwhile, the police pickets are continuing in the affected village and the situation is under control. The team, which met the CM, includes village sarpanch Nagarjuna, MPTC members Ramana and Kasiviswanadh, fishermen society leaders M Appalaraju, V Ramana, G Krishna, V Satyanarayana and Raju.
