Vijayawada: Members of the Rashtriya Upadhyaya Panditha Parishad, Andhra Pradesh (RUPP, AP) staged a dharna at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in the city on Sunday, demanding solution to their long pending problems.

The RUPP organised a relay hunger strike on Friday and Saturday to press its demands. Speaking on the occasion, the RUPP leaders flayed the State Government for its ‘adamant’ attitude in conceding their just demands. They threatened to launch an indefinite hunger strike from July 18, if the government failed to concede their genuine demands in the meantime.

Their demands included upgradation of language pandit posts, provision of promotions and notional increments, restoration of GO No 330, sanction of language pandit posts for primary schools and amendment to Act 1/2005.
