Tribal couple dies in freak mishap

Nellore: A tribal couple died in accident at Diguva Chavali village in Pellakur mandal on Sunday. According to police, four members of a family was travelling in a car from Nellore for joining their kin in Tirupati, while another car was proceeding towards Penugonda in West Godavari district from Mysore when the accident took place.

According to police, the car from Nellore was parked at roadside shop to remove flat tyre. The car, which was coming from Mysore, hit the stationary car and as a result it suddenly moved backward and hit the couple who was walking on the road in the village.

Tribal woman K Bharathi died on spot and her husband Srinivasulu succumbed to injuries while he was being shifted to Naidupet for treatment. A woman, who was travelling in Penugonda-boudn car, received severe injuries and was shifted to a corporate hospital in Nellore, along with other members, who received minor injuries. Police registered a case and took up investigation.
