Amaravati: Principal Secretary (Agriculture) P Vijay Kumar stressed on nature farming at a meeting held at Lam Farm Agriculture Research Centre in Guntur city on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that for the first time, the State government had motivated farmers to start the nature farming in 131 clusters in the State on a pilot basis and instructed the officials to take care of nature farming.

He said that due to pesticide residues in food items, “we are not getting export orders from European countries.” He said that paddy, pulses and vegetables produced under the nature farming would have no pesticide residues, so that the farmers would get export orders.

He instructed the officials to impart training to the farmers to adopt this system and clarify their doubts and guide them. He felt that if this pilot project was successful, next year they would extend this system to some more clusters.

He said that though the farmers would get less yield during the first year, soil health would also improve. Agriculture scientists and agriculture officers also participated.
