Visakhapatnam: The alert security personnel nabbed a tout on the KGH premises on Wednesday for diverting the poor patients and their attendants to the private diagnostic centres and hospitals by collecting money.

Later, the tout was handed over to the police. Responding to the incident, KGH superintendent Dr M Madhusudana Babu appealed to the patients and attendants visiting the hospital for medicare or medical tests not to fall prey to the touts or brokers who cheat them.

Alerting the patients, he said that some touts were moving in the hospital convincing the visitors to approach the nearby centres as medical tests are not available in the KGH to damage the image of the hospital. Following the directive of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah, all diagnostic tests are being done at the KGH free of cost.

He also informed that with the procurement of latest medical equipment, the hospital is able to provide delivery tertiary care and superspeciality facilities to the patients free of cost.

“Strict vigil has been kept on the movement of touts wandering on the hospital premises. In case of any inconvenience, the patients and attendants can contact the security personnel at the laboratory or CS RMO, KGH Dr K S L G Sastry or the Deputy Superintendent Dr K Satyavara Prasad,” the Superintendent added.
