Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu greeted the Muslims of two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on Thursday. In a press release issued here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said Ramzan festival is the symbol of fraternity and charity.

He said the preaching of Prophet Mohammed to help other people is seen in the prayers offered during the holy month of Ramzan, and this tradition is being practiced by Muslims. He said the Muslims pray for the well being of entire mankind during the festival of Ramzan, and greeted the Muslim community.

He reiterated that the TDP government was committed to the development of Muslims, and had allocated Rs 710 crore for 2016-17 in the budget for the welfare of Muslims in the State. He said the government is allocating funds for construction of Urdu University, Haj House and sanctioning Rs 50,000 under the Dulhan scheme for the marriage of Muslims girls.

He said the government had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for taking up repairs of mosques. He informed that Rs 10,000 would be released for villages, Rs15, 000 for mandal centres and Rs 20,000 for municipalities and corporations for taking up repair works in mosques.
