Tirupati: As a build up to the nationwide strike proposed by railway employees’ unions from July 11, the railway employees on Wednesday staged a protest before the Railway station here.

The CITU and AITUC activists also joined the protest along with the railway employees belonging to South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) and South Central Railway Employees Sangh (SCRES).

CITU State vice-president Kandarapu Murali lashed at the NDA government for its anti-employees approach. The 7th pay commission has failed to meet the expectations of the employees and will mete out a raw deal, if it is implemented he said adding that the railway employees will observe indefinite strike from July 11 to press for their demands.

The demands include stopping of the implementation of Bibek Debroy committee recommendations, opposing foreign direct investment and privatisation in railways and also filling up of the three lakh vacancies in the railways to ease burden on the employees. AITUC leader R Harikrishna, SCRMU and SCRES leaders also spoke.
