Ongole: SC/ST Commission Chairman Karem Sivaji has announced that the Commission has initiated the process for issuing notification for the recruitment of about 3,000 SC, ST backlog posts in the State.

Speaking here on Sunday, Sivaji said, “It is very unfortunate that the caste discrimination still exists in the society. We are taking immediate action in the instances of attacks on dalits and tribal people. The revenue and police departments should change their perception towards the dalits and tribal people and they should react to their pleas on humanitarian grounds. We are taking measures to post SC ST employees in focal points and utilize their services more effectively.

The officials should make arrangements to utilize the sub plan funds only for the welfare of the SC STs so that they get the facilities and opportunities equally with the remaining in the society.”The SC ST Commission Chairman rejected the allegations that the government was reducing the number of SC, ST hostels in the State. He said that they were converting the hostels into residential schools for the greater benefits of the students and there was nothing to worry about it.
