In a press release here on Sunday, CPM district secretary K Kumar Reddy said that a large number of people, including farmers, landless labourers, artisans and tenant farmers, were affected in the two mandals due to the forcibly acquisition of 10,000 acres of land by the government.

Reddy said that DKT lands of the poor farmers, including Dailts and tribals, were acquired in the two mandals for providing them at a cheaper rate to the corporate companies and big industries. He said that the land acquisition was not done as per the 2013 land acquisition Act, but as per the previous Act hitting hard the poor farmers.

Against this back drop, party State secretary Madhu will visit the two mandals to mobilise the farmers to press the government to provide compensation and other benefits as per 2013 Act, which clearly stipulated that the consent of 70 per cent of the farmers, is must for land acquisition and compensation to landless poor and others lost livelihood by the land acquisition, he added.
