​Nellore: District Collector M Janaki asked officials concerned to focus on maintaining proper sanitation in the government hospital and medical college premises here. She warned of taking action against officials, who show laxity in discharging their duties.

The Collector participated in a review meeting in the medical college premises here on Tuesday. She said details of staff and supervisors have to be updated through online, who are involved in maintenance of sanitation.

Janaki stated that staff and supervisors should mark their attendance through the biometric system. She asked the hospital superintendent and principal of the college to take stern action against negligent staff, if they fail to discharge duties.

The Collector asked them to make the premises free from movement of dogs, pigs and rats for safety of children and others. She informed the officials to engage medical staff on outsourcing basis to take care of patients if necessary.

She said computers, equipment, and other medical equipment have to be procured according to the requirement. “There should be continuous monitoring about sanitary conditions in the college and hospital premises on a daily basis,” she added.

Hospital Development Committee chairman Ch Narasimha Rao said the government had sanctioned Rs 28 lakh for sanitation in the medical hospital and college premises and asked the officials to take utmost care in maintaining hygiene and sanitation. Hospital superintendent Dr Bharathi, medical college principal Dr G Ravi Prabhu and other senior officials were present.
