Anna Canteens will be opened across State says : Paritala Sunitha

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister recalled that the late Chief Minister N T Rama Rao had introduced Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme for the welfare of the poor, similarly Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, too,  has set up Anna Canteen for the poor. He announced that the government will set up another two Anna Canteens in the capital region very soon.

Amaravati: Minister for Civil Supplies Paritala Sunitha inspected Anna Canteen set up at Malkapuram in Tullur mandal on Friday and interacted with the visitors and enquired about quality and taste of the food. The visitors expressed satisfaction over supply of food on subsidy.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister recalled that the late Chief Minister N T Rama Rao had introduced Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme for the welfare of the poor, similarly Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, too, has set up Anna Canteen for the poor. He announced that the government will set up another two Anna Canteens in the capital region very soon.

The Minister further stated that the she would discuss with N Chandrababu Naidu and take steps to set up Anna Canteens in all the regions in the State to fulfil the election promise.

At present daily wage workers in Malkapuram are going to Anna Canteens and eating breakfast and meals. Plate meals is available at Rs 50 and full meals at Rs 70 in hotels, while in Anna Canteen sambar rice, curd rice, lemon rice are available at Rs 13 only, she pointed out.

The Minister felt that the canteens are useful for the poor. She urged the poor to avail the facility being provided by the government. It may be noted that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated first Anna Canteen in the State in Malkapuram on a pilot basis.
