Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan said that oil engines would be supplied to farmers for drawing water from farm ponds. He participated in an awareness meet held at Sunaina Auditorium on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government has sanctioned Rs 9 crore for supply of oil engines in which Rs 2.6 crore was already disbursed in the first phase. “The remaining amount of Rs 6.4 crore towards oil engines will be disbursed in the second phase,” he said.

The Collector instructed the Grama Ikya Groups and DWMA staff to identify the farm ponds brimming with water so that oil engines can be supplied to them.

He asked officials concerned to obtain the consent of the farmer before supplying the oil engines. “If necessary, farmers should be supplied pipes along with oil engines,” the Collector said and added that farmers have to bear 20 per cent in the total cost of subsidy.

Vijay Mohan said that the Grama Ikya Sangam members have to ensure that the e-enrolment form should be completed ad sent to officials concerned by July 25 so that the farmers would be supplied with oil engines from July 28.

The Collector assured of providing job cards to NREGS workers besides enhancing 100 days of work to 150 with the approval of the government. DWMA Project Director Pulla Reddy, DRDA Project Director Rama Krishna, DWMA Project Officers, junior engineers, technical staff and the members of Grama Ikya Sangam were present.
