Chittoor: District Superintendent of Police (SP) G Srinivas said that police personnel have responsibility for maintaining law and order in the society. A skill orientation programme was organised for policemen to upgrade their skills at District Police Office (DPO) here on Wednesday.

Addressing the police officials, the SP gave a call to police personnel to maintain good relations with all the stakeholders of the society.

He stated that instructions were given to 84 police stations in the district to set up reception centres for receiving grievances from the aggrieved. The Station House Officer should make a complainant comfortable while receiving complaint from him. A simple act of courtesy at police stations will instill confidence among the people on Police department, he added.

The SP said skill orientation programmes will be organised in each sub division for upgrading skills among police personnel. He gave a call to DSPs to take up the responsibility of improving skills among policemen for better policing.

On welfare front, Srinivas said that the State government has been taking several initiatives for the benefit of police force. He appreciated community police officers for discharging duties effectively especially in regulating traffic at busy junctions in cities.

The SP lauded the efforts of district police for bringing down red sanders logs smuggling activities. Srinivas informed police officials that he would be visiting police stations in a phased manner to know the functioning of policemen.

Additional SP Abhishek Mohanty stressed on the need for police personnel to inculcate good habits which will help while interacting with the complainants. DSPs Lakshmi Naidu, Kesappa, Giridhar, Sudhakara Reddy and other police officials were present.
