3 red sanders smugglers held
According to the RSASTF sources, a combing party led by RSI Bhaskar spotted a group of 20 smugglers carrying red sanders logs in Puttagadda area. The RSASTF reacted swiftly and surrounded the smugglers, who began pelting stones and hurling axes at the personnel.
Tirupati: Three red sanders smugglers were arrested by the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) at Puttagadda forest area in Bakarapet range on Thursday.
According to the RSASTF sources, a combing party led by RSI Bhaskar spotted a group of 20 smugglers carrying red sanders logs in Puttagadda area. The RSASTF reacted swiftly and surrounded the smugglers, who began pelting stones and hurling axes at the personnel.
In spite of repeated warnings, the smugglers did not refrain from hurling axes prompting the police to fire in the air to deter them. Though three of them were nabbed, rest of them retreated into deep forest.
The arrested are from Javadumalai in Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu. RSASTF sources said that one of the personnel sustained an injury in the operation, and was admitted to SVRR Hospital.
