Vijayawada: The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (ACCIF) new body in its first executive meeting, here on Saturday, expressed concern over the dismal condition of existing industries in the State. The executive body said not a single foundation was laid in the last two years in the CRDA region for setting up industry.

The body felt the Telugu Desam government is framing guidelines for the development of industries but not releasing the GO in this regard.

ACCIF president Muthavarapu Muralikrishna, general secretary Potluri Bhaskara Rao, G Sambasiva Rao, (president-elect), Vice president K V S Prakash and others attended the first executive body meeting at their premises on Saturday.

They discussed the present condition of industries in the State and demanded the government to immediately appoint High Power committee with Ministers and top officials to resolve the problems faced by industries.

Later, addressing media conference the president Muralikrishna said the spinning mills are struggling for survival due to hike in power bills and increasing expenses. He said the industries are unable to bear the cost of Rs 10 per unit saying that it is the highest in India.

Muralikrishna said nearly three lakh people depending on spinning mills may lose their jobs if the mills are closed and said industries are struggling for the renewal of licenses since it is long time. He demanded the government must release GO’s on the incentives to be given to the industries. He said the officials do not respond to the guidelines framed by the government and asking for GO’s.

He demanded the government to appoint a high power committee to address the problems being faced by industries and said that not a single foundation programme was held in CRDA region during the last two years for setting up industry.

APCCIF general secretary Potluri Bhaskara Rao demanded the government to immediately form a land bank and allot lands to promote industries.

He said the existing sites earmarked for setting up industries have no connectivity and basic infrastructure facilities. Bhaskara Rao questioned how new industries will come when the existing industries are struggling for survival.

Raa said that government is not giving permission for setting up industries in areas under the CRDA region due to Green zone restrictions and demanded the government to announce the industrial policy.
