Visakhapatnam: Protesting against the NDA government’s decision to sell all major Public Sector Undertakings in the country through recently proposed ‘Mega Strategic Sale’ and a new scheme of ‘attacking on the job security of workers’ forcing them to opt for compulsory retirement at any time, all Central trade unions have decided to observe national industrial strike on September 2.

All India Secretary of CITU Swadesh Devroy told reporters here on Monday that the Central government hatched a conspiracy by evolving a privatisation plan in the 2016-17 annual budget.

It had endorsed full rights to NITI Aayog for selling shares and properties of any company or to privatise any industry and hence, there was no need to get the Cabinet approval for disinvestment of capital in any company, he informed.

He alleged that the NITI Aayog had already submitted proposals to the Prime Minister for selling 74 PSUs.

It was also proposed to increase Foreign Direct Investment to cent per cent in Defence, Coal, Oil, Mines, Power, Telecom, Aviation, Insurance, Pension, Banking, Railway and Pharama sectors, which was a great loss to the country.

He charged the NDA government with seriously trying to suppress the trade union movement in the country by making changes to about 44 Industrial Acts.

Though the contract workers have a key role in the Public Sector Undertakings on par with the permanent workers, there was no job security, no perks and no minimum wages for them, he pointed out.

The CITU national leader appealed to all the trade unions and the working class to make success the national industrial strike.

CITU State president Ch Narasinga Rao and city general secretary M Jaggu Naidu were also present.
