PoJ lauds RINL

The Panel of Judges (PoJ) for the Prime Minister’s Trophy for 2014-15 and 2015-16  arrived at Vizag Steel Plant on a two-day visit on Friday  to assess its performance to award the trophy.

Visakhapatnam: The Panel of Judges (PoJ) for the Prime Minister’s Trophy for 2014-15 and 2015-16 arrived at Vizag Steel Plant on a two-day visit on Friday to assess its performance to award the trophy.

The jury includes former CMD of RINL B N Singh, former Chief Advisor, Ministry of Finance J K Puri, former Deputy MD of Tata Steel Limited T Mukherjee, Prof P K Sen of Department of Metallurgical and Material Engineering, IIT, Kharagpur, Prof N K Chadha, Dean of Department of Psychology, University of Delhi, Prof Goutham Dutta from Production and Quantitative Methods Area, IIM, Ahmedabad, R P Singh, former CMD of Power Grid Corporation, V Shyam Sundar, former MD of Durgapur Steel Plant and Baji Nath Rai, president of National Mazdoor Sangh.

After assessing a phenomenal development in the increase of greenery, restoration and normalisation of production post-Hudhud cyclone, the jury appreciated that RINL was courageous in taking up the challenges of expansion, modernisation and stabilisation in one go.

It also expressed hope that the plant could be able to achieve the targets within the timeframe. Earlier, company Chairman and Managing Director P Madhusudan apprised the jury that though the plant was affected in the cyclone, the company was able to bounce back, thanks to the commitment of the Steel Plant Collective.

The damaged greenery around the plant and in the township was also restored in a record time. The PoJ interacted with the officers and winners of PM Shram and Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskars and also spoke to the representatives of Steel Executives’ Association, trade unions, women employees and SC, ST Association when they went round the production and expansion units.

The Visteel Mahila Samiti presented a cultural programme on the occasion. Later, the PoJ participated in the plantation drive taken up under Corporate Social Responsibility initiative at Arunodaya Special School where they interacted with the special children.
