Pithapuram (East Godavari): The all-party bandh called on Tuesday demanding Special Status to Andhra Pradesh was by and large peaceful barring stray incidents.

Shops and establishments downed shutters as the chamber of commerce supported the bandh, the vegetable market wore a deserted look, educational institutions declared a holiday, RTC buses were taken off the road on account of the bandh.

The police strived hard to clear the road under the supervision of circle inspector Omar and sub-inspector Koteswara Rao.

YSRCP leaders Gandepalli Baabi, Bojja Ramaiah and Mummidi Sreenu, Congress leaders Ayyanna and Mohiuddin, CPM leaders Kurakula Simhachalam and Koneti Raju, CPI leaders Appalaraju and Kunche Anjibabu and others took part in the demonstration.
