YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy feared that the future of the State might be in jeopardy as the Central government denied Special Category Status to the State.
Nellore: YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy feared that the future of the State might be in jeopardy as the Central government denied Special Category Status to the State.
Addressing a public meeting as a part of Yuva Bheri programme, here on Thursday, he accused the Centre and State governments of betraying the people of the State.
“States with Special Status will get benefits. Entrepreneurs can enjoy 100 per cent exemption on income tax, excise duty, subsidy on power tariff and reimbursement of transport costs. These sops will attract more industries and hence more jobs,” he remarked.
Taking a dig at the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan said that he need not have to visit China, Russia, Singapore, Japan and other countries and invite them to open their shops in the State, with the Special Status the State would become a hotspot for industries.
The YSRCP chief bemoaned the lack of efforts from the Chief Minister to achieve Special Status. “Naidu neither mounted pressure on the Centre nor educated the people. He cannot compel the Centre for the status as he fears legal action in connection to cash-for- vote case,” he alleged.
Jagan accused the Central government of backtracking on the promise of Special Status. “Even though Union Minister Jaitley categorically announced in Parliament that they would not accord status, there was no response from the Chief Minister, moreover he said that the party would continue ties with BJP,” he lashed out.
Mocking Naidu Jagan said, “If he was born at the time of freedom struggle, he would have neglected to fight saying that it was not an immediate necessity.”
The YSRCP chief also accused the TDP of ignoring poll promises. “They promised jobs, stipend to unemployed and others. Not even a single promised was fulfilled,” he remarked.
