Kakinada: The strike by Outsourcing Employees Association of government general hospital affiliated to Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council (TNTUC) entered third day here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, they demanded that the State government regularise the services of outsourcing employees working in various departments as promised on the eve of elections. They also demanded that the government implement GO Ms No 3 and 151.

They said that government employees got 43 per cent fitment as per the recommendation of 10th Pay Commission, but those under contract are not being paid the minimum wages.

They said 245 employees in the association who had been working on outsourcing, were not being paid minimum wages. They demanded that the government regularise paramedical employees who were recruited 13 years ago and also announce PRC to them.

They charged the government with not implementing the Minimum Wages Act. They said that the government was dodging the issue and planning to get rid of the workers rather than regularising their services.

They also alleged that they were getting threatening calls from higher-ups to call off the stir or face the axe. They said that no action had been taken despite taking the issue to the notice of Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

KGGH medical superintendent Y Nageswara Rao said that they deputed staff from other wings in place of striking employees. He said as the outsourcing employees were recruited without any order of merit or roster system, the wage revision is not applicable for them.He said that they were paying the wages of outsourcing staff from NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme (formerly Arogya Sri) as the government is not paying their wages.
