The city wore a festive look with women  tying rakhis  everywhere. Aiming to promote social and human relations among human beings, both teaching and non-teaching women employees tied rakhis to associate dean, students affairs, Andhra University Dr T Sharon Raju and other staff by distributing sweets and saplings. 

Visakhapatnam: Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in the city with fervour on Thursday in educational institutions, political parties and in public sector undertakings.

The city wore a festive look with women tying rakhis everywhere. Aiming to promote social and human relations among human beings, both teaching and non-teaching women employees tied rakhis to associate dean, students affairs, Andhra University Dr T Sharon Raju and other staff by distributing sweets and saplings.

Members of BJP Mahila Morcha-Lalitha, Prasanthi, Krishnaveni, Satyavathi and city president Premkumari tied rakhis to MP K Hari Babu, city president M Nagendra and MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju.

Later, they went to the Central Prison and tied rakhis to the inmates and jail authorities.Members of City Mahila Congress led by its president Pedada Ramani Kumari tied rakhis to PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP K V P Ramachandra Rao, PCC General Secretary Dronamraju Srinivas and former Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar. Raghuveera Reddy assured that the Congress party will always fight for women’s security and welfare.
