Tremors in Ongole leave people shell shocked
Even though, district authorities and geologists advised the public not to worry about the mild tremors of negligible magnitude happening in Prakasam district, but fear is still lurking in the minds of the people. Yet again, the tremors for short duration on Monday afternoon near Ongole town forced the people to run out of their homes, schools and business establishments.

For the past few months, villages in the PC Palle and Pamur mandals are experiencing mild tremors quite frequently. Areas like Sujatha Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Mangamuru Road, Kurnool Road and other areas in 1km radius in the outskirts of Ongole town experienced tremors for 2 seconds around 3pm on the Monday. The public ran onto the roads, fearing for their lives and didn’t return to their buildings for 30minutes.
Despite district authorities and geologists urging people not to be worried, but the public are taking tremors seriously because National Disaster Management Authority has announced that Prakasam district is in the moderate seismic risk zone, where earth quakes of magnitude equal to or below 7 on Richter scale could happen.
