Eluru: In a bizarre incident, a filling station at Jangareddigudem dispensed water instead of petrol on Monday. This incident happened at Indian Oil Corporation (IOC)-owned filling station at Aswaraopeta road in Jangareddigudem.

As many as seven motorcyclists, who filled their bikes with petrol at this station, were in for a rude shock, as it turned out to be water.

Koteswara Rao, a mason by trade filled his bike with petrol worth Rs 200 from the filling station. However, his bike stopped just after 100 yards from the filling station. When he gave the bike for repair, the mechanic told him that it was filled with water instead of petrol.

Meanwhile, six others consulted various mechanics with the same problem. When questioned about filling up the bikes with water, the filling station management flatly denied the accusations.

The irate victims lodged a complaint with Jangareddigudem Tahsildar, who sent a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) to check the bunk. The VRO confirmed that the filling station was dispensing water instead of petrol.
