The prize money for the award was increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 20,000, apart from presenting a tablet to the winners. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that students need practical knowledge besides classroom learning. Naidu said that the government would equip every educational institution in the State with wifi network.

He vowed to make electronic classrooms a reality by the end of the year. “Schools, colleges should adapt technology, which makes educational institutions happiness centres. Literacy rate can be improved by combining technology with practical teaching methods,” he averred.

He instructed the teachers to work for Vanam-Manam, Swachh Andhra and Neeru Pragathi schemes. These works are to be done on the first three Saturdays of the month. On the fourth Saturday the teachers shall take a ‘Selfie’ with the work they have done on the three Saturdays.

Based on the work the HRD Ministry will allot performance appraisal grades for the teachers, which will be taken in to consideration in future grading,” he added. Stating that teachers play a very important role in developing society, Minister for Human Resources Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao asserted that the government would strive for the welfare of the teachers.

He called upon the teachers to emulate ideals of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan for the development of the State. On the occasion, the State government launched ‘Knowledge Mission’ a digital platform, 12 themes of student-teacher exercises. It was developed by a Malaysian team under ‘AP E-Knowledge Exchange’ programme.
