Srikakulam: Beach resorts, park hotels and tourist spots would be developed along the sea coast in the district with the Central government funds. The District Tourism Promotion Committee (DTPC) has identified important locations along the beach and temples near the sea coast to improve them with an aim to attract tourists and earn more revenue.

Facilities would be provided at Sivasagar, Baruva, Kalingapatnam, Ganagallavanipeta, Matshyalesam, Bandaruvanipeta and other beaches to attract tourists. Approach roads, walking tracks, concrete benches would be constructed with the Central government funds.In addition to these amenities, development works were proposed at famous Buddhist site at Salihundam, Venugopala Swamy temple at Swethagiri in Gara mandal to attract devotees.

Historical Light House would be modernised at Kalingapatnam, damaged roads would be repaired and Roads and Buildings guest house at Matshyalesam would be dismantled and new guest rooms would be constructed.

Private agencies of South Korea are showing interest to start beach resorts and a team from South Korea had visited identified spots along the beach six months ago. Another private company, Tech Mahindra also eyeing beach resorts, park hotels development along the sea coast and its project consultant discussed pros and cons with the District Collector.

Srikakulam would become a hub of tourism in future as private agencies are showing interest to start their ventures after identifying the potentiality, said district tourism promotion officer Nadiminti Narayana Rao.
