The Minister was here on Saturday to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara for completion of Polavaram project without any hitch. Addressing the media along with Forest and Environment Minister, he alleged that the YSRCP through its mouth piece - a satellite TV and newspaper were trying to hinder the lift irrigation schemse.

The government buoyed with the success of Pattiseema project, which saw this year farmers taking up kharif crop in 10.30 lakh acres, took up Purushottapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme to benefit Vizag district. Last year,

the Vizag Steel Plant faced difficulty due to water shortage and also some parts of the district faced drinking water shortage, he said, while explaining the need for taking up the new lift irrigation scheme based on Polavaram left canal for which the government has also given administrative sanction to boost up irrigation and water supply to industries and drinking purposes in the two districts.

The Minister said the YSRCP is unable to digest the government scripting a success story with regard to completion of projects and asserted that water would be provided to Lingala and Pulivendula mandals in Kadapa with the completion of GNSS.

Replying a query he said that water would be provided through HNSS to Madanapalli and Kuppam areas in Chittoor district in December this year. “Despite the deficit budget, the government was able to spend about Rs 18,000 crore on projects resulting in irrigation of two crore acres in the state,” he claimed.

He took strong exception to YSRCP MLA RK Roja’s remarks against TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh and dubbed them as cheap remarks
