Amalapuram: Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that the State government was ready to implement any welfare scheme to achieve double-digit growth in agriculture. He was participating in a farmer training camp for farmers held at Ambedkar Community Hall here on Monday for highlighting on crop insurance for coconut crop and crop rotation in coconut farms.

Addressing farmers, he said that crop insurance will be handy when coconut farmers get struck by natural calamities. Crop rotation in farms would be handy for the coconut farmer when the market prices of coconut are not encouraging. The State government introduced several schemes to ensure crop rotation in the coconut farms.

Under the farm mechanisation programme, machinery is being provided to the farmer on 50 per cent subsidy. Measures have been initiated to set up CPCRI regional office at Rajamahendravaram. Farmers are being encouraged by offering subsidies and incentives to agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, aquaculture and poly culture farmers, he said. Local legislator Aitabattula Ananda Rao, horticulture assistant director Srinivasulu, scientists from the Coconut Research Station at Ambajipeta and others participated in the meeting.
