Rajamahendravaram: Efforts are being taken to set up a cancer unit at Government General Hospital in Rajamahendravaram, Lok Sabha member M Muralimohan said here on Tuesday. He conducted a surprise inspection at the hospital on Tuesday, wherein he inspected OP section, screening centre, blood testing centre and maternity centre.

Muralimohan advised doctors to make sure that deliveries take place in the hospital and added to take a few steps to prevent referring small cases to GGH in Kakinada.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajamahendravaram MLA Akula Satyannarayana said that model services are being provided to patients from the hospital and assured that steps would be taken to provide full services from laboratory. Stating that the number of patients, have increased in the hospital, he said that the steps would be taken up to fill up all the vacant posts.

He advised doctors to ensure proper safety of mother and child after deliveries. He directed the authorities of the corporation to eliminate pig menace which has been causing diseases in the city. Later, mother and child kits were distributed to mothers who were discharged from the hospital. Medical superintendent Dr Ramesh Kishore and Resident Medical Officer, Dr Padmasri were present on the occasion.
