MDP objects to govt interference in Muslim Personal Law

Vijayawada: Minority Democratic Party president Althaf Raja and secretaryMasood Ali Jinna opposed the Union government’s interference in Muslim Personal Law which was affecting the sentiments of Muslims population in the country.

In a press release here on Tuesday, Althaf Raja said that the BJP government was creating problems by showing special interest on Muslims.

The government should implement Sachar Committee and Ranganatha Mishra Committee reports if the Centre has real interest on the welfare of Muslims, he said. He said that it was fact that some of the Muslim women face domestic violence even as the Muslim Personal Law was in force.

Shariya Act enabled Muslim women get property rights 400 years ago and the government should protect the rights of women which were incorporated in Indian Constitution.

He further stated that there would be no use by creating a hue and cry over the triple Talak issue.
