Vijayawada: NFIW, AIYF, AISF and other groups are opposing the ‘2017 Beach Love Festival’ to be held in Visakhapatnam from February 12 to 14. The State government had given permission for the event to Mumbai-based Positive Global Services and Consultancies Pvt Ltd.

The organisers were claiming that the event would attract foreign tourists and investors, said the protesting groups. The organisers had informed that Bikini Shows, Fashion Shows, Dances, performance by popular pop singer Shakira, etc would be some of the highlights of the show. About 9,000 couples had been invited from Middle-East, America, Europe, Japan, Russia, Africa and other countries for the event and each couple would be allotted a tent for their privacy for the Beach Love Festival. All the members of women’s organisations came down heavily on the Beach Love Festival.

Speaking at a round-table meeting in the city on Monday, they said that these types of events were against Indian culture and tradition. "These Western cultural events are a threat and will have a bad influence on youth and the younger generation. Such events will attract the youth towards nudity and lust and will lead to crime and should not be given permission as the whole world is looking to India for its valuable customs and traditions," they said. U Kalpana (YSRCP), Durga Bhavani, D Rama Devi (CPM) Nagamani (AIPWA), Sri Laxmi (Congress), Subba Rao, Shahinsha (AISF) Ranakrishna (PDSU), A Vanaja (Mahila Samakya) and others were present.
