Justice K L Manjunath Commission which was appointed to study the condition of Backward Communities in the State and submit a comprehensive report to the government toured in the villages of Gantyada Mandal of Vizianagaram and interacted with the locals on Friday.

Vizianagaram: Justice K L Manjunath Commission which was appointed to study the condition of Backward Communities in the State and submit a comprehensive report to the government toured in the villages of Gantyada Mandal of Vizianagaram and interacted with the locals on Friday.

The commission led by Justice Manjunath visited Narava, Siripuram villages and conducted open enquiry with the locals. The commission garnered information which was recorded by Sarpanch Trinath. Commission noted down the sources of income, caste-wise population of the village and earning capacity, expenditure of the people.

Later the commission went to Siripuram village and garnered information from village secretary Varalaxmi and Sarpanch Satyarao and the commission came to know about the lifestyle of the fisherfolk and enquired about their income, expenditure and savings too. Most of the villagers expressed their agony and apprised the members that they have been facing trouble even to lead normal life. People of Telaga caste requested the commission to include them in BC list. Members Venkateswara Subrahmanyam, M Poornachandra Rao, S Satyanarayana, RDO Srinivasa Murthy and others participated in the tour.
