Nellore: AP Roads and Buildings Minister Sidda Raghava Rao said the ruling government has been focusing on industrial growth in the State by
setting up ports and industrial corridors. The Minister participated in ‘Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme’ at Naidupet in the district on
Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Sidda said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wants to develop the State as a hub for seafood
products by improving infrastructure facilities. “Several investors from India and abroad are keen to start their units once infrastructure is in
place,” he added. The Minister stated that setting up units would boost local economy besides providing employment to local youth.

Sidda said the purpose of conducting the Janmabhoomi programme is to resolve people’s issues on the spot. Various sections of the society
were being provided support through corporations for their welfare, he added. He stated that the Chief Minister took a decision to complete
Polavaram project by 2018.

District Collector R Mutyala Raju said Janmabhoomi programme is being implemented in 940 panchayats and 218 municipal divisions in the
district from January 2. Officials have received 13,000 representations from people in 324 panchayats and 85 municipal divisions by Tuesday.
He said officials were directed to verify the requests and upload them immediately for necessary action. The Collector said there are 2.43 lakh
pensions in the district and 20,000 more would be issued soon.

Now, 8.52 lakh ration cards are in the district and the government sanctioned an additional of 41,000 cards for eligible families, he said. The
Collector also explained that Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage would be given to people, who pay Rs 15 under Chandranna Bima Scheme. MLCs
V Narayana Reddy, B Ravichandra, former Minister P Ratnam, former MP N Subrahmanayam, Municipal Chairperson Ch Sobharani, RDO
Seena Naik, ZPTCs, MPTCs and others were present. Sidda also launched kindergarten classes in local ICDS centre at Naidupet. The Minister
also laid foundation for a road at Damavaram in Dagadarthi mandal with an outlay of Rs 2 crore.
