Guntur: Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) special officer Kantilal Dande on Monday passed a proposed GMC budget for the financial year 2017-18. The GMC showed opening balance of Rs 426.67 crore and income Rs 546.56 crore. The expected expenditure is Rs 614.04 crore and closing balance is Rs. 359.19 crore.

Later, speaking to media, the GMC commissioner S Nagalakshmi said that the government will take up development works with the grants from 14th Finance Commission grants. “We will use World Bank loan for Comprehensive Drinking Water Scheme, likewise, Amrut scheme grants, SC and ST Sub-Plan funds, income from property tax, rents from GMC complexes, surcharge on stamp duty, income from parking fee, income from vacant land tax and advertisement tax revenue will be used for developmental works,” she informed.

She said that the GMC will give top priority for city development in the budget, besides implementing welfare schemes.
