Visakhapatnam: The rural police of the district solved the murder mystery of 22-year-old teacher of Paykaraopeta Saini Indira whose mutilated body was found in the bushes near Rajugaru Lay Out between Tallapalem and Narsipatnam on March 19.

Addressing a press conference in Anakapalli, rural Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma said on Tuesday that the police launched investigation and published the picture of the woman in the newspapers on March 30 and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for identifying the body.

After seeing the picture in the newspapers, the residents of Brindavanam Colony of Pakaraopeta called the police and identified it as Saini Indira.They said Indira worked as a teacher in Sri Prakash Educational Institutions and later moved to Sri Chaitanya School. When the police visited the Brindavanam Colony, the local residents said she has been cohabiting as a live in partner with one Reddam Naresh Kumar.

The police arrested him at his residence in Paykaraopeta on Tuesday, the SP said.In his confessional statement, Naresh told the police that he developed relationship with her while he was working as a driver of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions mini-bus.

The school management dismissed her from service but she continued to live with him.Recently his marriage was fixed and the ceremony was to be held on April 9. Engagement function was held on March 16. Indira exerted pressure on him to marry her and threatened to commit suicide if he deserted her.

It was then he decided to kill her. On March 18, Naresh borrowed motorcycle of his friend and asked Indira to accompany to him to Visakhapatnam to discuss their marriage plans. On way, he purchased razor blades. When they reached an isolated place, he attacked her with blades and cut her all over the body.

She died of bleeding. Later, he picked up some empty beer bottles from the scene of offence and procured petrol from nearby bunk. He poured it on her face and burnt her beyond recognition. The Superintendent of Police said Naresh was produced before the magistrate and sent to judicial remand.
