Rajamahendravaram: Pending salaries of computer operators has marred budget meeting of Municipal Corporation of
Rajamahendravaram held on Friday. When the council meeting started at 10.40 am, Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai mentioned that discussion should be taken up on the budget this time and another meeting will be conducted for other issues.
However, ruling Telugu Dasam Party members along with YSRCP members targeted her, but she remained stubborn. Ex-Officio members Rajamahendravaram city MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana and MLC Adireddi Appa Rao repeatedly asked the Mayor for the delay in signing the bill of pending salaries of computer operators even after the approval of council and they walked out of the meeting as Mayor did not respond for their queries.
Another ex-officio member Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary warned that consequences will be different if the government intervenes in the matter where the Mayor did not sign the bills approved by the council and he did also express dissatisfaction over Mayor not responding on his comments.
Intervening into the matter, he questioned on the delay in paying salaries even though there is no dearth of funds in the corporation. The Mayor was isolated as ruling as well as opposition corporators and ex-officio members demanded her reasons for not signing the bills.
At this juncture, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary got emotional and said that ‘politics and posts are not permanent and works that we have done will stay permanent’.Notably, the Municipal Commissioner told the council that he did not get the file from Mayor and he has paid two-month salary by using his discretion powers keeping the problems of computer operators.
Stating that not signing the bill approved by the council is a serious issue, Gorantla made it clear that the government will issue show cause notice and questioned who will take responsibility for that. He mentioned that not signing the bill approved by the council is a violation of act.
