The project will be launched on pilot basis in Krishna and Vishakhapatnam districts in first phase. “It will use Internet of Things (IoT) to track the travel. The funds for the project will be allocated from Nirbhaya fund,” the officials said.
The officials also informed that APSRTC has incurred Rs 795 crore losses for the financial year 2016-17 due to issues like increased diesel rates and others. Reacting to this Naidu suggested the officials to follow best practices around the world and hire efficient consultants for improving the working system of RTC.
Meanwhile, the transport department’s revenue has increased from Rs 1,762 crore to Rs 2,463 crore in two years, projecting a jump of Rs 700 crore with 40 per cent hike. On an average the transport departments attends to 41,968 citizen transactions per day providing a total of 83 services.
The growth rate was as high as 15.71 per cent with Kadapa district at the highest with 26.63 per cent.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to appoint the 18 member state-level and 21 member district-level committees for road safety following the directions of the Supreme Court. The officials were instructed to provide world class training facilities to enhance driving skills and awareness to the drivers.
On this occasion, the officials informed the CM that about 20,000 drivers would be trained by Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR). IDTR is a joint venture by GoI and Maruthi Suzuki.
It was also proposed to set up the institute in Venkatachalam village in Darsi mandal of Prakasam district.
Besides automated test tracks are also proposed at nine places such as Bhimavaram, Gannavaram, Guntur, Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, Anantapur, Kurnool and Proddutur and Naidu directed that the centres should be launched in two months.
Reviewing the progress of BC welfare department, the Chief Minister said that he would personally monitor the implementation of the welfare schemes by holding special meeting with representatives from the BC federations. He informed that the government has released Rs 2420.03 crore for scholarships, which has benefited 9,44,142 students.
He also suggested that all welfare schemes initiated by various departments should be brought under one umbrella to ensure transparency and uniformity with regard to funds allocation. Minister K Atchannaidu and other officials were present.
