Ongole: The minister for forests, environment, science and technology Sidda Raghava Rao announced that the government is working with an aim to provide water for drinking and agriculture purposes without any problems.He inaugurated the 33/11KV electrical substation at Sankarapuram village built with Rs. 1.70 crore and laid the foundation stone for a lift irrigation scheme with a budget of Rs. 47 crore in Marella village in Darsi assembly constituency on Monday.

The minister said that the chief minister is concentrating more on irrigation schemes to help the farmers in the drought affected areas. He said that the CM is committed to complete Polavaram project by 2018 and the Veligonda project in the district as early as possible. He said that the government is calling for tenders to dig the tunnel from the other side to complete the project very fast.

He said that the government has taken up the Neeru Pragati programme to induce confidence and hope in the farmers about conservation of water.Raghava Rao said that the government is providing seven hours electricity for agriculture purposes as a solution to the plight of the farmers. He ordered the Mundlamuru SE to install transformers in the mandal to supply quality electricity to the customers.
