Anantapur: A huge rally was taken out by the CPI on the occasion of May Day. The rally started at Saptagiri Circle and culminated at Tower Clock near RDO office. The procession led by CPI district secretary Jagadishwara Rao. The leaders raised slogans against the anti-people policies allegedly being pursued by the ruling TDP and BJP party governments both in the state and at the centre.
Highlights:
- The government had been snatching away farm lands and depriving farmers of livelihood, alleges CPI
- Industries with massive investments were giving employment to very few, says Jagadishwara Rao
Addressing the participants in the rally, Jagadish stated that the Left parties in the country stood for core political values, principals and ideologies around which the parties were established. He said that the CPI was the first to stand by people and wage struggles in their hour of trials.
The CPI district secretary took a dig at the ruling TDP government for pursuing policies that deeply affected the people's interests. He maintained that the government was basically anti-farmers and worked against their local
interests.
In Amaravati and in other parts of the state, the government had been snatching away farm lands and depriving farmers of livelihood. Valuable lands are being given to corporates and industrialists for a song. The industries with massive investments were giving employment to very few and denying employment in the name of automation and computerisation.
Town secretary Jaffer called for a united struggle against fascist forces and against globalisation of even common man's petty trades and businesses. Several other leaders lambasted the ruling class both at the centre and in the state for working hand in glove against the common man's interests and working for the corporate interests. The mass migration of farmers and labour class to other states from here is itself a reflection of the anti-poor decisions of the governments, he added.
