Three day workshop on Kathak begins
A three-day workshop on Kathak to create awareness among children about tips to excel and about the practice to be done in the advanced stage began here on Wednesday.The event was being organised jointly by the School of Theatre Arts and SFS School, Seethammadhara, with the support of Visakha Child Sponsorship Programme Bal Bhavan.
Visakhapatnam: A three-day workshop on Kathak to create awareness among children about tips to excel and about the practice to be done in the advanced stage began here on Wednesday.The event was being organised jointly by the School of Theatre Arts and SFS School, Seethammadhara, with the support of Visakha Child Sponsorship Programme Bal Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion after inauguration of the workshop, SFS School principal Rev. Fr. Inna Reddy called upon the parents to encourage their children in any form of extra-curricular activity they like, including sports, games, art and culture to excel in life.
He said they were also encouraging children to learn any form of art they like, along with regular academics. President of School of Theatre Arts R Nagaraj Patnaik disclosed every year they were organising similar summer coaching cum workshops and this year nearly 40 children came forward to participate in Kathak coaching cum workshop. He said Peu Bakshi from West Bengal and senior disciple of noted Kathak guru Pandit Birju Maharaj is taking up classes from 9 am to 12 pm. Director of Visakha Child Sponsorship Programme Bal Bhavan T V Thimmaiah Gandhi also spoke.
