He participated as chief guest in one-day Neeru Pragathi workshop conducted by water resource department at SV University, here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion Naidu stated that without water there would be no development in anywhere in the globe.
He feared the possibility of water water between nations and states in the future and called upon people to save every drop of water.

“Water conservation is responsibility of every citizen in state. The government is supporting different water harvesting practices, at the same time people must cooperate to Neeru-Pragathi movement,” he appealed.Naidu advised IIT Tirupati and SV University authorities to work on energy and water conservation research. Regarding energy sector, he asked to officials to concentrate on increasing of solar and wind power production.

He asserted that government can go ahead with Godavari, Krishna and Penna river linkage as early as possible. “It is the only solution for tapping of flood water in different rivers in the state,” he added.Minister for IT Nara Lokesh called upon officials to prepare the water budget. He affirmed that government will spend more than Rs 9,000 crore in coming one year under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) mission for water conservation and other development works.

Minister for water resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao explained the importance of Panta Sanjeevani scheme and funding details. He also mentioned importance of the Polavaram and Pattiseema projects.Minister for industries N Amarnatha Reddy, district collector S Pradyumna, farmers from different water users associations across the district, IIT director Satyanarayana, SVU VC A Damodaram and others were also present.
