Penukonda: Anantapur YSRCP district unit president Sankar Narayana has threatened to launch a massive movement against the state government in association with other parties if the TDP government were to resort to corruption in the name of establishing industries. On Thursday, he inspected the proposed 600-acre site for the KIA cars’ company at Yerramanchi, near here.

The proposed lands are fertile and the government allocated Rs 177 crore to level the ground, he alleged. He sought to know whether Rs 177 crore is necessary to level the ground that is being cultivated by the farmers. Moreover, there are no hillocks, rocks and stones in the lands and questioned the allocation of huge sums for leveling the ground. He charged the local legislator Parthasarathy was indulging in large-scale corruption.

He alleged that the government has been paying a compensation of Rs 10.50 lakh per acre as the compensation for lands which are worth crores of rupees in the open market. He clarified that the YSRCP was not against development but if the government were to indulge in corruption in the name of development it would not keep mum. He said that the whole issue smacks of a huge conspiracy and threatened to build a huge people’s movement against the corruption.
