Vijayawada: Congress lambasted BJP National President Amit Shah for his claims on Centre providing financial assistance to Andhra Pradesh during the past three years. Congress leaders said it was completely wrong that the Centre had given Rs 1.75 lakh crore to the state and also demanded that the state government disclose the facts to the people over the claims of BJP’s top leader.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, City Congress president Malldi Vishnu and APCC official spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji said that Amit Shah tried to hoodwink the people on the Central funds to the state with an intention to dilute Special Category Status (SCS) issue.

“The Narendra Modi government denied SCS to the state stating that NITI Aayog did not accord the status. It also did not deliver promises made to the state in AP Reorganisation Act- 2014 and even is dodging on new railway zone issue. But, Amit Shah read a big list with no facts during his tour in Vijayawada”, Vishnu said.

Sivaji alleged that Amit Shah was given a red carpet welcome by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu even as the Modi government denied all benefits to the state. “Telangana Chief Minister has given a fitting reply to the BJP president countering his false claims on release of funds to the state. Unfortunately, Chandrababu Naidu is cringing to BJP leader while the state has been losing on all fronts due to the indifference of Modi fovernment towards AP,” Sivaji lamented.

In another press meet, APCC general secretary Meesala Rajeswara Rao alleged that the Amit Shah has made dodging assertions over key issues of SCS, implementation of AP Reorganisation Act and other issues. He demanded that the BJP leader apologise to the people of Andhra Pradesh for deceiving them by not delivering election promises.
