The State government after examination of the proposals from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force, Andhra Pradesh has constituted a committee to work out the modalities for sale of Red Sanders wood through global e-tender cum e-auction for a quantity of 2025.518 Metric Tonnes available with the State Government in log form in the next phase.

Amaravati: The State government after examination of the proposals from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force, Andhra Pradesh has constituted a committee to work out the modalities for sale of Red Sanders wood through global e-tender cum e-auction for a quantity of 2025.518 Metric Tonnes available with the State Government in log form in the next phase.

It may be recalled that the Director General of Foreign Trade, Government of India, has already accorded permission to the State Government to export 8584.1363 MT of Red Sanders wood in log form out of the confiscated /seized stock available with the state.

In this backdrop the state government has constituted a Committee with Principal Secretary, EFS&T Department as Chairman, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HoFF, Secretary, Finance Dept. / his nominee, Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Additional Secretary, Law Department, Special Secretary, EFS& T Department as members, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (production) as Nodal Officer, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, APFDC as Member Convener.

The functions of the committee include reviewing the status of Red Sanders marketing in the light of the past experience and chalk out a strategy for its sustainable marketing for the present and the future, decide the mode of disposal / type of auction, identify appropriate agency through which the sale is to be conducted, formulate Terms and Conditions for conduct of sale including the draft terms of reference (TOR) document, finalise draft tender document with all the relevant stipulations such as quantity, time for payment of EMD, Security Deposit, and for payment of sale consideration etc.

Other issues such as time limit for lifting material, payment of ground rent and penalties etc., for defaulters and all other relevant issues will also be finalised by the Committee. It will also determine unit of sale, i.e., quantity for each unit or lot-wise sales and other relevant conditions. After finalising its recommendations the Committee will submit them to the government at the earliest.
